Baldur’s Gate 3, one of the year’s most remarkable successes, recently released Patch 4, bringing significant changes. Regrettably, while this update has enhanced many aspects of the game, it has also introduced some new issues, notably altering the multi-select option on controllers.
Controller Multi-Select Issue Following Patch 4 in Baldur’s Gate 3
The latest patch introduced numerous changes to gameplay, visuals, and other aspects, including quality-of-life improvements that also affected controller users. One notable change in Patch #4 is how multi-item selection functions with controllers.
The update eliminated the ability to use the Right Trigger for multi-select; instead, players now need to hold X/Square to enter multi-select mode and use A/X to select items. Subsequently, they press X/Square to bring up the action menu.
This new method feels somewhat clunky and slower compared to the previous one. Most importantly, it removes the ability to bulk-transfer items into open containers or bags in the inventory, as there is no transfer option available.
While there is a Move option, it serves a different purpose, allowing players to place items in the game world or on the ground. Additionally, this change makes it more challenging to multi-select readable items since the selection button now also doubles as the read button.
As a result, many players have urged Larian to reinstate the Right Trigger option for this new command.
Acknowledgment
In response to the growing number of reports, the developers have issued an official statement addressing the issue.
According to this screenshot shared by a player, it appears that Larian is aware of the problem and is actively investigating it.
However, it remains uncertain whether they will revert the multi-select option to its original method or keep the current setup.
