EA NHL 24 is the latest instalment in the beloved hockey video game franchise, and while it has generated considerable excitement among fans, the Early Access release has left some players feeling underwhelmed, particularly when it comes to the Franchise mode.

As we eagerly await the full release on October 6th, let’s explore the grievances that players have expressed about the game’s franchise mode.

EA NHL 24 Franchise mode issues so far

One of the primary complaints that players have raised is the exceptional player growth experienced after just a single season. In a game that aims for realism, the fact that some in-game players can grow by a staggering 9 points in a single season is simply too much. This rapid growth not only defies the laws of real-world player development but also disrupts the balance and competitiveness within the game.

It leads to unrealistic scenarios where players, in a matter of seasons, become superstars that would never attain such status in real life. This issue is a glaring flaw in the gameplay experience for those who seek realism and immersion in their virtual hockey world.

Another significant concern is related to the AI teams’ decision-making in the franchise mode. Time and again, these AI teams inexplicably opt to sign young players with low ratings and poor potential. Even when better, more experienced players are available for the same price point. This shortsightedness in AI roster management persists throughout multiple seasons of the game. It also presents a challenge for players to fully engage in the fantasy of running a professional hockey franchise.

Furthermore, there’s a perplexing issue with some teams having an excessive number of player contracts, ranging from 24 to 35 contracts. As a result of this abundance of contracts, there is a lack of players in their correct positions on the team. Consequently, this inevitably leads to subpar performance. In a mode where strategic team management is supposed to be a key element, this anomaly becomes a significant drawback. Thus, it renders the franchise mode nearly unplayable for hardcore NHL fans who crave an authentic experience.

Additionally, the removal of pre-match cutscenes is another letdown. These cutscenes used to add depth and excitement to the gaming experience, allowing players to feel more connected to the on-ice action. Their absence in EA NHL 24 leaves a void that is felt by fans who cherished those cinematic moments.

EA NHL 24 menus laggy

Players have also voiced their dissatisfaction with the sluggish menus in the game. A smooth and responsive menu system is essential for the overall user experience. So, the slow menus in EA NHL 24 detract from the enjoyment of navigating the game’s various modes and options.

As we eagerly anticipate the full release of the game. It remains to be seen whether these issues will be addressed in future updates or patches.

Will EA Sports listen to the feedback of its dedicated fan base and make the necessary adjustments to improve the franchise mode? Only time will tell.

In the meantime, fans are left wondering.
